I create bold paintings expressing my love of
puns, icons and symbols, often incorporating an unexpected jolt or
surprise. My aim is to show the viewer a colorful, thoughtful and
meaningful view of the world. The depictions may emerge as serious,
amusing or sometimes both at the same time! I wish to gently persuade
the viewer into seeing the world from a slightly different perspective!
Most paintings take about 4 to 6 weeks to
plan and execute. Often a phrase or situation will have inspired the
narrative, which I then develop or transform in some way. Research, and
several drawings follow before I arrive at the finished image I wish to
paint. The titles of the pictures are important and play their role in
reinforcing or complementing the symbolic, graphically strong images.
